The Reason this Democratic Party Has Concealed its 2024 Election Autopsy: An Analysis.

The move from the DNC to withhold the publication of its own autopsy report concerning the last presidential race appears remarkable yet to be expected. Averse to frank assessments, the Democrats' governing body often functions closer to a communications shop rather than an electoral entity devoted to building local power to secure victories.

An Environment That Avoids Dissent

Hesitant to depart from the party establishment's culture demanding unity, the committee has remained under that legacy throughout this past year. Releasing such a report might have shown that the leadership actually want to promote open debate regarding the strategic failures that paved the way for the former president to become president again. Yet, the leadership is moving forward as if there are no lessons to glean following the electoral catastrophe from the last cycle.

Our guiding principle: does this help us win? Should the answer be negative, it’s a distraction from our fundamental goal," a justification reportedly given to justify concealing the document.

Major Failures an Analysis Might Have Addressed

An autopsy report with any value would tackle head-on certain uncomfortable matters. These include:

  • Voter Disengagement: Losing of a significant portion of the electorate that backed the Democratic ticket during the previous election proved pivotal during the tight recent race.
  • A Choice to Run: The stubborn decision by a party leader to seek re-election, alongside an extremely delayed exit, is viewed as robbing the party's base of a competitive nomination process.
  • Abandoning the Working-Class Base: During a time of rising costs, the electoral effort is criticized for ceding to corporate donors' interests and not managing to challenge the impact of corporate greed.
  • The Gaza Factor: The refusal to shift an approach on the situation in Gaza is cited as losing significant blocs, notably with youth voters, Arab American communities, and Muslim Americans.
  • Losing Young Voter Support: Polling data demonstrates a significant drop-off of support for the party among voters aged 18-29.

A Pattern Avoiding Accountability

This refusal fits a pattern to avoid hard truths. It echoes a situation in which the vast majority of Democratic officeholder in Congress acquiesced to an incumbent's decision for running for re-election right up until a poor campaign event led to a change.

Concurrently, large majorities within the party's base had been consistently telling pollsters that they did not want that candidate to seek re-election.

Campaign Spending Questions

An honest analysis could examine matters regarding where money went, including what sums flowed to insider consultants as well as media firms during an electoral effort that managed to spend a colossal war chest over a few months.

The Broader Problem

At its core, the suppression of the official autopsy points to a submission to the existing power structure that oversaw an unsuccessful electoral effort. The implication to ordinary supporters – which includes millions of small donors – appears to be that they do not have a right to know what the leadership claim to have learned from a report based on feedback from all states.

A political entity incapable to publicly examine its own failings is unlikely to climb out of the rut that proved so advantageous to their opponents.
